Making the World Cuter Monday {May31-2010}

Any fun memorial day plans today? My hubby plans on doing some work, so we will probably just hang out around here...maybe catch a family movie later in the afternoon. Other than that I will just be admiring what you've been doing!
You know the routine-if it's making the world cuter-link it up!

Friendly Friday-A Little of This, A Little of That

I have a super fun treat for you today, Sarah from A little of this, A little of that is here telling us a little bit about herself and all of the things she does to make the world cuter!

It's all yours Sarah!

I'm so happy to be blog swapping with Tiffany today! She has some super cute ideas!

I'm Sarah, and my blog is A Little of This, a Little of That.

A few things about ME!

  • I'm a full time stay at home mom. I try to soak up all the time I can with my children. I feel like they are growing up much faster than I want!
  • My daughter, Miss J, is almost 3. She wants a pet turtle and a wheel barrow for her birthday (so funny!)
  • My son, A-man, is 14 months. He is ALL boy. Loves to bang stuff, throw stuff, and climb on everything.
  • I love sunny, summery weather.
  • I live in a small Texas town, and love it! As a native Texan, all I can say is, Texas rocks!
  • I love the beach, and wish we lived closer.
  • I got my Bachelor's degree in Special Education, and love the time I spent teaching children with special needs before becoming a mommy.
  • And of course, I love to CRAFT, Decorate, and Sew!
Over at my blog, you'll find home decor crafts, DIY projects, and much more.

Some of my favorite projects have been:

Thanks Tiffany for allowing me to blog swap with you!

Show Offs-From the Past 2 Weeks

Every spare second I have had on my computer lately has gone to homework-I have a huge project due this week and another one next week. Every alloted computer minute has been sucked into them! :(
I do take tiny breaks to look for inspiration in the linky parties for the last two weeks, so I have been sticking them in this post as I find them. Here are my faves from both of them. Be sure to check them out and if you love them as much as I did, go give them some comment love!

Crystal at ScrapCandyDesigns made this fun apple scrub and then decorated the jars so stinking cute, I would want to design a whole room around them.
Sherry at The Charm of Home had her very artistic little boy draw these trees with Sharpies on burlap to make this amazing bulletin board for his stuff. What a great idea, and a great piece of art as well!
J. Paige at Scatter Sunshine found some canvas art at the dollar store, painted over them and made these adorable dinosaur silhouettes out of scrapbook paper. Adorable!
The Frugal Designer has all the plans for an outdoor sectional that I would LOVE to make! Now just convincing the hubs to do one more project...
Maryanne at Domestically Speaking never ceases to amaze me with her talent...or her awesome finds! She found this beautiful armoire on Craigslist for $25 and made it all creamy and perfect.
Erin at Lemon Tree Creations has done it again with these fantastic lamps that were inspired by Easter eggs of all things. She gives a full tutorial, and I can't wait to find something to do this with!
I thought this wire art put together by Green Bean at GreenBeansCrafterole was super cool, and it looks even better than the inspiration piece!
This fantastic idea and tutorial is brought to you by the lovely Alissa at 33 Shades of Green. I would love to get a gift from her, just so that I could admire the wrapping paper-great taste! What a fun thing to have hanging in your craft room!Love Love LOVE this Butterfly Lamp that Mandy at Mint & Clandy Create made for her daughters nursery! It looks great hanging over the crib and her sweet little munchkin seems to like it too! If you were featured today, be sure to show it off by grabbing a button here.
Thanks for all the inspiration! :)

Making the World Cuter Monday {5.24.10}

Howdy! How was everyones weekend? Mine was fabulous! I was in Portland hanging out with my mom, eating delicious food, getting spoiled and soaking up all the beautiful green. Unfortunately there was no sun to soak up, and I would have been literally soaked had I stayed outside too long, but it was still beautiful.
Can't wait to see what you've been up to!

It's so nice when I see this button on your post while I'm perusing...

Friendly Friday-Whatever Dee Dee Wants {She's gonna get it!}

This gal is just the cutest, and I love her blog name-I'll let her introduce herself, and then you should pop on over to her blog and say hi! -Tiff

Hi everyone! I am super excited to be blog swapping with Tiffany! She is definitely making the world cuter with all her crafts and tutorials.

My name is Dianna but most everyone calls me Dee Dee.

I blog at whatever Dee Dee wants {she's gonna get it}. I am the mom to the coolest little red headed boy and married to my best friend. I know, cliché but really we were best friends before we ever liked each other. My husband Travis, is a butcher. You can check out some the yummy things we eat here.

I love buying kids clothes and am always buying my son something new to wear. Every Sunday on my blog I show off his Stylin’ Sunday picture.

I love lists, being on time, organization, cooking, reading, traveling and crafting. Sometimes husbands and kids don’t allow traveling, being on time and keeping things organized. At least I have all of those other things.

I learned to sew at an early age. I took numerous lessons (art, swimming, tennis, ballet, tap, jazz, etc) and the only one I stuck with was sewing. I love all kinds of crafts and am trying my hand at quilting right now.

I made these little notebooks for all my little lists I like to make. They also make great journals.

I sell them along with a few of my other crafts in my Etsy shop just for fun.

Recently I made these calendar blocks with a group of young girls from my neighborhood. Make sure to check out the tutorial, they are super easy to make.

I like to make my husband craft with me. He likes helping me with our Gocco and making cufflinks.

Stop by my blog, whatever Dee Dee wants {she’s gonna get it} and say hi.

I would love to meet you.

Three Things Thursday

Thursday. It's Thursday. Wow this week has flown by!
Time to tell you the three things that have been on my mind as of late...

I might need to get this shirt from Cafe Press, little baby boys movements have now become full blown kicks as of last night, and I'm pretty sure he's a little ninja.
Second...when Chad comes home from school tonight, we are hitting the road to go to Portland for the weekend! Squeal! I love going to see my mom, and Portland I think will always feel like home to me. I can't wait to see all the green that looks like the saturation is turned way up. It just doesn't look real after being somewhere so brown for so long!
This is me and the kids there last year, at the park behind my moms house. Fully intend to get some new fun pics of my kids here.

And last but not least, I just finished editing this beautiful girls senior pictures.
What are you doing this weekend?

Tutorial-School House Chairs that Rock!

I picked up these sad, but cool school chairs off of the side of the road one day and they stayed in my garage for months waiting to be given a makeover. They were used as spray painting benches for my husband and daughters project which is why they are red and white...
Finally I got it together and went to work!
First we spray painted them white.
Then we took off all of the seat and the bottom wood piece-and used spray adhesive to put pieces of foam (cut to fit) on them. I used two pieces of foam for the seat to give it more "cush."For the seat; I just measured the fabric a bit bigger than I would need to cover the top and sides and then I folded it over the wood and tacked it on to the seat. Then using hot glue I made sure that fabric wasn't going anywhere when we put the screws back through the chair that held the seat on. The top slat of the back of the chair wouldn't come off, so I made a little slip cover for it...like this...Then I put the longer piece in the front of the chair and pulled it up in the back and secured it with velcro for now, until I get the urge to put some buttons on it-but I'm in no hurry. The bottom slat did come off and I was going to make a sleeve for it before I put it back on, but it was much easier to just sew a rectangle in the right size and put a few buttons on the back so that it can easily be removed if I ever decide to change the fabric or wash it. Here is a side view of one of the finished chairs......and a top view.And here they both are in their little home as a sitting nook in my living room. They add a splash of color to my little black and white world and I love them! These chairs were originally posted on a blog swap with Its So Very Cheri in November 2009.

Show-Offs! {From 5.10.10}

You guys always have the best ideas! I love going through the linky lists and seeing all you have created! Here are a few that really stuck out from last week to me. Go over and check them out and let them know where you saw them! :)

Sandra at Sawdust & Paper Scraps has done it again! She built this amazing toy storage and craft table for her playroom...yes you read that right, she BUILT it. It looks like something that came right out of a PB catalog doesn't it?
I am loving this hall makeover that Googiemomma did, especially this part with the kids pictures, a chalkboard for each of them, and a place to put their school papers in (that she made herself) AND a place to hang their bags. Brilliant!
Cheri at I am Momma-Hear me Roar spray painted and embellished a pair of ho-hum shoes into these fantastic spring flats that are adorable! Spray painting shoes? Never would have thought of it, now I am wondering how many pairs need a makeover! :)If you were featured be sure to grab a button!
