Flashback-Special K-ookie Recipe

Since I am busy...or should be busy packing, I decided to post some of my older stuff that some of you may have missed over the next couple weeks...hope that's okay! :)
These cookies are good for you-I mean it. 2 of the main ingredients are Special K and oatmeal, so they have to be right? It totally cancels out the butter and sugars for sure! This is my sister in law Stef's recipe that she gave me years ago. Since then-many people, maybe even you, have loved and enjoyed these little yummy morsels.
Just FYI the dough is even better than the cookies for those of you who like dough like me!

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • MIX AND CREAM WELL
  • SIFT DRY INGREDIENTS
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • MIX THAT IN
  • 1 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 cup Special K cereal (it adds this crunch that makes them yummmazing!)
  • chocolate chips
  • BAKE AT 400 FOR 8 MINUTES, IF THE DOUGH IS NOT GONE.

Friendly Friday-Sweet Basil

Ya'll know I love me a new bloggy friend, and that's why I adore Friday's! Todays guest will knock your socks off with her cuteness and yummy deliciousness! After you read this, you'll want to add her to your readers for sure!

I’m so excited to be doing a guest post for Making The World Cuter!! Don't you all love this site?! My girlfriends and I love to get great ideas. I mean can you believe the old seat cover turned skirt???!!! Awesome!!

I’m Carrian from {Sweet Basil} a
food blog. I love to cook and bake, especially with my little
family-husband, 5 yr old and 9 month old. We are from opposite ends of
the states; Cade is from South Carolina and I am from Washington. We met
in Idaho, moved around a bit and for now we are in Utah. One of our
favorite hobbies is cooking and/or baking.

Over a year ago I was getting a lot of requests to do meal plans
because people were sick of trying to think up what to make for dinner
and compiling a grocery list so they didn’t forget anything. I truly was
striving to meet everyone’s needs, but then I got pregnant with our
second and due to Hyperemesis Gravidarum I was in the hospital too much
(not to mention too darn sick to think about food) that I just couldn’t
do it anymore. We had our little girl and while it was an adjustment to
have two kiddos I began trying to do the meal plans again. Folks, I am
just too pooped to make up a bunch of meal plans and email them out
every week. SOOOOOO, I created Meal Plan Monday. It’s pretty much awesome. Here’s how it works

meal+plan Guest Post Weekly Meal Plans!

Every Monday I post a meal plan that starts on the next Sunday. That
way you have all week to shop. The meal plans are designed to
incorporate leftovers or use the same ingredients so you aren’t stuck
with a bunch of ingredients one week without a new dinner to use it in. I
also include a printable grocery list and obviously the recipes. It
saves so much time and effort having a meal plan in place and money
since you can look at the different weeks and what’s on sale and choose
your menu based on that. You can also look at previous weeks and sub any
dinners you really enjoyed.

You can find different recipes like,

If you ever have a request for healthy, vegetarian, quick dishes etc
you can always leave me a comment or email me at

Thanks so much for having me and I do hope you will pop over to Sweet Basil and say hello!!

Yay! I know I will be a frequent visitor! Won't you? Thanks Carrian!

And now here is a recipe to sweeten your day and make your Spring a little cuter...

I posted these a couple years back on this here blog for some little spring nest cookies I made for a party.
Thought those of you who weren't dieting might want some...and those of us who are might want some too-but restrain, lick the screen if you have to...just be sure to dust it off first...because yuck...don't give into the yumminess and the cuteness of these delicious little morsels...
Just a basic, (the best kind) no bake cookie recipe with a few basic, (and oh so yummy) Cadbury mini eggs on top for cuteness, and tastiness.
  • 3 c. oatmeal
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. butter
  1. In seperate bowl combine oatmeal and vanilla
  2. In heavy saucepan combine the remaining ingredients, stirring until just melted
  3. Stir hot mixture into oats and vanilla mixture
  4. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper
  5. Refrigerate until cool.

Yum! Make this for Dinner-HEALTHIER Fettuccini Alfredo

Oh yum! Had this for dinner last night and I swear you would never know that it didn't have a quart of cream in it like the original! So creamy, but you don't feel yucky afterwards! :)

I LOVE Fettuccini Alfredo, and almost always order it when we go out for Italian.
So when my mom showed me this recipe from Ellie Krieger, I was all about it, albeit a little skeptical that it would be as good taking away all the cream and butter.
It was just as good, and I didn't feel guilty afterwards that I cleaned my plate!

We added mushrooms and served it with a salad (and this time actually used whole wheat penne instead of fettuccini-yum).
Make it, and let me know what you think! :)

Yummy! Corn Pop Perfection

This is a recipe my mother in law makes for about every holiday, birthday and any other day that needs a sweet treat in it.
I don't know if it gets better than this...I don't think I can handle it if it does.
This is easy, sweet, salty and perfect.
I will try not to drool on the keyboard as I let you in on this tasty secret recipe!

First you will need the ingredients;
  • A bag of Corn Pops-they are kind of like Cheeto's-but not cheesy...or orange. This will not work with Cheeto's. That would be gross. Don't do it. Okay?
  • 1 1/2 cups of Sugar
  • 1 1/3 cubes of Butta.
  • 2 Tbs. of Water
That's it! You probably have everything but the Corn Pops on hand...once again, these are not Cheeto's...if you have Cheeto's on hand-give them to your kids and send them outside with their grubby orange hands. Do not under any circumstance use those nasty nuclear orange things in this delicious recipe.

Glad we got that out of the way.
What?
You love Cheeto's?
Oh. Gag.
It's okay. We can still be friends, as long as you leave those dirty little things at home...or at least in your car. Okay?

Back to the recipe!
What you need is a saucepan.
Turn heat to med-high and pour in your sugar, butter and water.
Let it melt, and stir it up so that it gets good and combined, and let it come to a boil.
Got all that?

Okay, now just let it boil for FOUR minutes. My mother in law says it's key. I don't mess with the woman, she may be only 5 feet tall on a tall day, but she is a spit fire I tell ya!
While that is boiling pour your corn pops into a very large bowl or stock pot.
When your four minutes is up, pour the hot liquid over the corn pops and stir well.
You want to coat the stuff on every little piece. Because it's delicious-er that way.
Now you want to use a greased baking sheet or use your silicone baking mat...
...and then pour it all on....like so...Bake at 225 for about 20 minutes.
Let it cool just enough to not burn your taste buds off, because trust me...you're going to want them...
Then EAT!
Oh it's good.
It's real good.
You should probably make this for company...or at least make sure you have some kids around to help you eat it, because it's addictive-and eating a whole batch of this by yourself...while it may be enjoyable...it's probably not recommended by any health-care professional.
