Felt Treasure Map

How was everyones New Year?

I feel like I've been away from my computer forever! I have so many fun ideas this year to share, I've been brainstorming and crafting and feeling like my old self again...finally!

I guess it's because my baby finally hit the 3 month mark. I always seem to hit my groove around then, is that true for anyone else?

Here is my little tutorial for today, if you can even call it that since I am just going to show you a bunch of pictures! :)
It's a treasure map...
I know it's hard to tell from the picture, but this thing is quite large! It is about 2 feet by 2 feet of felt. My 2 year old (well all of my kids actually) loves maps. His favorite show is Dora and his favorite part is the map part. I knew he would love his own map.

He can roll it up to take on his adventures or he can hang it on his wall as a big piece of art. I glued a couple pieces of ribbon to the back for easy hanging.

This also doubles as a play mat for his little toys as well, he plays with his army guys and plastic animals, and sometimes he wraps it around his shoulders like a cape-what can I say he's a boy!

Here are some close ups of the different parts of the map. This whole map was fairly easy to make-just felt, scissors and a hot glue gun was all I used.

This is the volcano....
The Indian encampment...I was definitely inspired by Neverland while making this...
Mermaid Lagoon-try not to look at the mermaids eyes, my boy already tried to claw them off, he's such a destroying angel!
Here is a talking tree, my sons favorite part I think. He is always having his guys talk to it to find out where the treasure is, or the baby jaguar-depending on what he is playing. I didn't glue the x down, that way the treasure can be re-located depending on his mood.
Here is the pirate ship and of course the compass, because no map would be complete without one...
My kids all love playing with this, it was definitely worth the work!
